Lunetta power supply |
|
|
Hi everybody !
i'm building my lunetta network actually, and was wondering why most people who build lunetta stuff uses 5v power supply...
I'd like mine being able to interact with Karplus Strong or Quad Bass ++, which work with higher voltages...
I think that i have to power my lunetta stuff the same way ( even if it won't use negative supply) as these modular modules if i want them to be synced or triggered ...
Thanks for your answer ! _________________ http://h.a.k.free.fr/

Because that is the required supply voltage for the chips used. Some chips can handle higher, often between 3 and 15 volts. But some others only work on a 5 volt supply. All depends on the chips you are using, you'll have to check your datasheets.
Also, look up voltage regulator IC's. |

thanks Jingle Joe !
But i was sure that all the cmos stuff ( CD****) would work btw 5 & 15v...
If i power lunetta with 5V, if i use a R2R ladder, would the cv fit for feeding a quad bass CV ?? Maybe yes, but i wouldn't give all the quad bass abilites, no ?

i stick w/ 4000 series chips specifically for this reason, they generally are good between 3 and 15 volts. usually i build lunetta stuff as standalone boxes i usually use 9v battery power... used as a sound source in conjunction w/ a modular, the levels are fine. everything i've ever tried worked fine on 15v, tho some of the oscillator frequencies shift a bit based on the voltage level... but since most of my lunettas are pretty noisy and don't include ferrites and power conditioning, keeping them on batteries or a separate PS help isolate the modular power grid...

Don't ask us, you're the one who should know the specifications of your own equipment I don't even know what quad bass CV is, I assume it's some kind of voltage controlled four legged fish? |

I switched my Lunetta power to 12 v from 5 because I wanted to use it with other bits - including the quad Bass++

yeah, thanks all !
i think i'll use 15v, and add some power regulator after r2r ladder. Like that i'll be sure it can be used with all the stuff i want without any problems ! _________________ http://h.a.k.free.fr/
