NAMM2012: Casio, Clavia, Teenage Engineering... |
|
|
Bringing in some stuff seen on 99musik.se:
There's a mysterious image at the top of Nord Keyboards' site, hinting at something regarding drums. I always try to ignore these things from Clavia, but who knows...
Teenage Engineering has a picture of a tray at their site, and they've put up a video, hinting at something being presented at NAMM.
I think I've heard something about something coming from Elektron as well.
Sweden aside, Casio (!) seem to be making a comeback in the synthesizer market. They have a site up, and a poster advertising something called The Casio XW-P1 Performance Synthesizer.
Any other rumors? _________________ Antimon's Window

I forgot: Eventide are releasing some native software plugins: Blackhole from the Space Stombox and the H3000 Factory/Patchfactory (don't know if these are two separate things). _________________ Antimon's Window

I'm very curious to see what Nord is offering with their new drum machine. _________________ "Oh, it's yours? Then go ahead and kick the shit out of it..." as said to Michael Victor by Howard Moscovitz 06/05/05

I don't think it will include the 'machine' bit.
Although an x0x style simmons?

SDS-3 was a rather nice device. The rest of Simmons range was IMO a bit in the spirit of the Russian Afghan War. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Didn't they sell the complete ddrum business years ago?
Another drum synth + pads combo would not fit with their current strategy.
However, a Linn/TR style rhythm machine would. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Yeah, not only did they sell ddrum, but also a couple of Clavia folks went away to do the 2box drum thingie, so it seems a bit odd ... _________________ Jan

The Minibrute has a Steiner-Parker filter, and YuSynth has been involved somehow. _________________ Antimon's Window

I'm intrigued by the two new modules by Make Noise - the Dual Prismatic Oscillator (vactrol-loaded, with waveshaping and other stuff) and the Echophon (bit-shifting delay developed in collaboration with Tom Erbe the Soundhack god).
This could be the year I finally sell my Moog Voyager and go modular... _________________ Current and recent work on Soundcloud

One of the appealing things to me about modular synths is the lack of software within the modules, and therefore no bugs.
At least in the case of most modules, the obvious exceptions being those that use DSP like the Make Noise Phonogene and Echophon. _________________ Current and recent work on Soundcloud

True! On that note, I reflected the other day on how few bug-related problems (none really) I've had with the OP-1, compared to, say, the Octatrack. _________________ Antimon's Window
