Here and there around this forum are posted some very nice electronic renditions of classical music. I've enjoyed this pastime myself. It can be very easy; just play a midi file with your synth, or it can be very difficult; carefully adjust each patch for every voice, add dynamics, spaciality, tempo changes, etc.

In any case, I was thinking we could have a little classical music festival on electro-music.com.

How about this for a method:

Either post recordings of music here on this topic, or if the files are already posted here, then post a link to the appropriate post. If you have stuff on some other site, then post a link to that one and indicate it's OK with you to stream that track on the electro-music.com streaming station.

If you use a MIDI file downloaded from the net, please give credit to where you got it. If possible, notify the MIDI file author about your recording so he/she can enjoy it too.

After a bit of time, I'll produce a little radio program.

Other things to help:

If you know were one can get MIDI files which are not copyrighted or restricted, let us know.

If you have any special tricks or techniques, share them.

Let us know what synths and software you are using.

Feel free to use this topic to comment on posted tracks; this is in the Schmooze forum after all.

Let's have some fun making beautiful music.

I have a little demo recording of 'In C' that I made as sort of a proof-of-concept to test my sequencer setup for the e-m11 performance. I'll get that into a useful format and post it here. Smile

Can contributions be original classical-style pieces by us?

Awesome! I'll start on something after I'm done with my No Musics contribution.

What I'd like to do is actually not use traditional classical instrument sounds, but still make the listener say "this is classical... somehow".

Ok, since Audiodef brought it up - here is my attempt...

I was really trying to do something else and this came out instead...

This piece is called "Escape" and is played (as a sequence) on an FPGA synth I call a TriXarp. This is a 192 string Karplus-Strong harp where the strings are played as 3 strings at once per note. The harp is tuned something like a piano, with slightly different frequencies for the 3 strings per note.

Here is one by our own Bachus that has been on the forum for quite a while.

http://electro-music.com/forum/download.php?id=9763

Not only did Bachus do a fantastic job on the synthesis, but he wrote the composition. It's truly superb.

Here's the forum topic where this was posted.
