very nice!!
I have been trying to compose 'trance-style' music and it's much harder than one would think... it's especially hard to get a good, banging Kick drum sound!

Yep is difficult to get the trance sounds just right, this one was more trial and error really.

another problem I've had in trying to compose trance (as opposed to using pre-made loops) is the bass sounds...I always fall into cliches and the bass sounds like Rock. Or else it sounds lame, or if I put FX on it it overpowers the mix.
