We were supposed to have a thunderstorm ... but that did not happen.

Still it made me thinking a bit on how the sound of thunder is made, and it occurred to me that some Doppler effect is involved as when the moving spark's sound is reflected from a backwards cloud it would have a different pitch from when reflected on a forwardly floating cloud ...

The Doppler thing I thought could be a frequency shifter, and as the echo's come from basically random places and the spark moves in basically random directions I thought I could just randomly pan between the up- and the down-shifted signal.

Then I thought this would happen in three dimensions, so I might need three of those things, and as it's recursive it should be in a delay loop, maybe it should be three delays tho, and the delay should be modulated too as the spark to cloud and cloud to cloud distances would be random and changing.

The spark itself I thought to be a noise burst, but I added some rattling to it as that seemed to work better. Maybe though it should just be a series of clicks .. did not try that.

Finally as for thunder it starts with a spark and goes into rumbling the recursion should have some highs filtered out.

So that's how I came to this patch .. sois it thunder .. nope, its more like gun shots, but hey, I already told you it did not happen Laughing

Anyway, it is a nice sort of effect, and it runs on the demo too, so thought I'd just post it. The green modules in the patch are involved with the ideas sketched out above.

Maybe it could work for a reverb?
