Usually shorter, but can take longer too.

Think so, I got the latest version when I set up the Kyma stuff a couple of months ago. After that I did not touch it, and used the settings for it as recommended by Symbolic Sound (even when that means it's VU meters dont work anymore Evil or Very Mad ).

VU meters don't work, thats strange isn't it?

Well we are up to 10:30 here now with no problem.

I just looked back at my emails to see when I had the firewire problems and it was October 2009, after a few rounds of debug logs with Symbolic they seemed to sort it out.

What sort of mac are you using?

I am testing on a MacPro on 10.8 so its not really like for like I suppose.

Coming up to 12 hours now, I will run it till I go to bed then I will have to turn it off as it is in the bedroom and i cannot stand the fan noise!

What is the longest you have had it going on the Konnekt48?

Cheers

Andy

Hi Jan,

Sorry I had to turn it off last night, I couldn't get to sleep. It managed 17 hours before I killed it.

At the weekend I am moving a load of stuff around ( decorating Sad ), I will unrack the K48 and the pacarana and connect it to the laptop somewhere else and leave it running for longer.

Cheers

Andy

heh, quite understandable.

Meanwhile it stopped working here again, this time after 16:03:19 and this time it got stuck repeating one sound no message or nothing, it just stopped.

The pacarana is still responding to its front panel. Trying a DSP restart ... nothing .. trying again ... cursor is a bit nervous but nothing else happens .. quitting Kyma, it won't stop .. force quiting Kyma and starting it ... starting patch again .. it runs.

Every time it is a new surprise when it stops and how it stops Crying or Very sad

On the USB interface it will stop too, it just takes a bit longer usually.

This is so fokking frustrating and disappointing.

Anyway, sending in another debug log.

If you get FireWire errors using the USB interface it must be the connection between the pacarana and the laptop?

I take it you gave tried different leads?

Can you introduce the error by moving the lead around, I know that can throw mine.

Yes I've tried different wires ... but I do not just get firewire errors (as illustrated in my previous post where I did not get any error at all but just a hangup of Kyma (apparently, as I did not restart the pacarana this time but had to force quit Kyma), but also the pacarana can crash in such a way for instance that its front panel is not operative anymore and I need to pull the power plug from it).

Anyay, I've just set up the thing with the TC again, for which I tried different wires too.

And as the FW800 connectors are pretty lousy I even tied them up a bit so they won't wiggle out by them selves.

So there seems to be no such thing as "the error".

Mmmmm.

I'll set mine up to run over the weekend and see how it goes.

Most people probably don't run them for a prolonged time.

Has been running here now for 68 hours and a bit (with all stuff pulled as described above) ... starting to go somewhere ... but I've had it run for 70 hours before (with USB audio I/F) which is just not long enough for me ... anyway, I'll keep it running for a bit more.

I haven't read all of this thread, but I think Blue Hell's music is in it's own space; music that takes much longer than a typical song, or even a symphony or CD. Noodles are designed to play forever, like the sound of the sea shore or Victoria Falls. That's a concept that most people don't really appreciate. So, it's not so strange that an instrument that stops playing after a few days is problematic.

Especially so as the system supports timing as slow as two years ;-)
