Had a brutal reminder yesterday when I was sent this new really cool product:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HHiXqcyu2M
Which leads me to this rant:
A while back I was doing an entire redesign of The Noiz Temple (my studio) and my head engineer and I decided that we wanted to do away with hardware as a control interface. I mean...with things changing daily in the virtual world why limit yourself to a hardware only interface?
So...
We figured that we needed a giant iPad type thing to control EVERYTHING.
Found a few companies offering things and stumbled onto this company in Austin, TX owned by Victor Wong called Music Computing.
They sell a touch screen interface that works with any DAW and is supposed to work in a Mac environment. After several discussions with them and making it VERY clear that my studio is strictly a Mac environment we proceeded with having the product made for us.
We received it and to our dismay it did NOT work as advertised and as stated by their sales people on a Mac.
Not even close.
It was horrible.
So then they said it needed some tweeks and we had to send it back.
Once we got it back it was the same or worse.
I returned the device after arguing with them about it because they apparently do not take returns.
What ended up being agreed upon was about a $350 "restocking fee".
I had no choice since they had $1500 or so of my money and I was stuck with a useless touchscreen thing.
This is their website:

Is this disclaimer on the product description relevant? _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

No.
Trust me...it is not even remotely useable.
Even one touch is erratic and you can't manipulate the items on the screen. _________________
