Hello all,

I just purchased a Nord Lead 2 (not X) and after playing it for a while, I noticed that I couldn't hear the portamento effect at all even with the knob turned all the way to the right. I tested this using MIDI Monitor on my Mac and when I turn almost any knob on the synth, I see hundreds of messages like this:

11:41:12.981 From Plug 1 Control 1 Portamento Time (coarse) 0
11:41:12.995 From Plug 1 Control 1 Portamento Time (coarse) 2
11:41:13.069 From Plug 1 Control 1 Portamento Time (coarse) 3
11:41:13.083 From Plug 1 Control 1 Portamento Time (coarse) 2
11:41:13.097 From Plug 1 Control 1 Portamento Time (coarse) 3

These messages occur when I turn almost any knob on the synth, and the value never increases past 4. The messages continue to appear for several minutes, even if I don't turn any more knobs. Turning the Portamento knob does trigger these messages as well, but the value still only ranges from 0-4.

Does anyone have any ideas about what might be causing this issue? My guess is that the portamento potentiometer needs to be replaced, but I wanted to check with the experts here Smile

Thanks in advance!

Check the memberslist and search for Pablo Mastodon. He is the USA tech for Nord (Clavia) and is surely the man you need in this!

Belated thanks for the help! I did get in touch with Pablo and he helped me acquire a replacement pot. It didn't fully fix the issue--now the portamento knob doesn't do anything and the FM knob controls the portamento. But it's a workable (if strange) solution as I can just use the mod wheel to change the FM level.
