4015 sequencer stripboard? |

I wonder if anyone have a layout for a sequencer with a 555 and a 4015 (like the modded velleman mk107 LED kit) like the one sen in this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJ35ShtB8XI ?
I guess it would be easy for someone that is experienced in stripboard layouts to just make one in no time. For the record, I suck at layouts...
It seems like this sequencer is somewhat better than the baby sequencer, and have 8 steps, which obviously is much better than ten steps.

The only thing necessary to make a 4017 sequencer do 8 steps is to wire step 9 to reset. If that's your only criteria for being superior you ought to be able to use this stripboard:

aha, ok. So there are no advantages of using the 4015?
I would also like to have the ability to control two oscillators at the same time, by somehow putting an output jack to later be able to connect one more sequencer that will be controlled by the 555 in the mother sequencer.
Would this be easy to make? |

I did all the optional bits listed on that stripboard layout, and I have extended the circuit in several ways beyond those.
1) I inverted the 555 clock so that I got a positive going pulse (simple transistor inverter).
2) I added AND circuitry so that gate AND clock would give a trigger output (lots of discussion of that in the thread, requires some delaying steps).
3) I took the raw clock, ran it from the inverted 555 to an output jack, and then through a switched jack back to the rest of the circuit -- this lets me use an external clock if I like, OR use the 555 timer as a clock out to other sequencers.
4) I have added a DB9 connected to each individual gate step so that I can use this to drive a trigger sequencing box. I'm using a DB9 mostly for convenience, it's easier to run a 9-conductor cable to the next box than it is to run 9 patch cords from individual jacks, and I have a very specific use case that works well with the DB9.
I don't have stripboard layout for these modifications, as they were added after I completed the basic circuit, so they're kind of bodged onto the board or wired at the jack ends of things.
So right now I have CV out, Gate out, Trigger out, Clock Out and Clock In, as well as individual gates out. |
