COMPILATION CALL:
A call to artists who are willing to take up the challenge of working with alternate tunings, loopool & Welcome to the 21st Records are hosting a compilation of works based exclusively on this visible spectrum tuning. Several sf2. soundfonts have been provided with instruments already in this tuning but feel free to create your own with the chart provided below. A graphic score and moving graphic score have also been provided should you like to work with these as a starting point (optional). Submission details can be found at http://www.loopool.org

the LOOPOOL Visible Spectrum Scale Project
Starting with the average frequencies of the visible light spectrum then using the center of these frequency ranges for each color as a starting point and pitching them down, a hexatonic scale has been created, roughly corresponding to: F#, D#, C#, C, B, A. These frequencies have been given MIDI note assignments and the 8 octaves spread across the 52 white keys of the keyboard (black keys are not used).
