5V gate to 10V or more

Hi guys.

i want to boost the 5V gate of my midi to CV to 10V/12V/15V gate
i found this...

my question is...
i see in the scheme that TL074 is only for buffering.
can i use only the first part of the schceme without using the TL074 buffers?
i mean output directly from pin 14.
will this increase the 5V gate to 10V or more?

in addition i see that after the buffer of the TL074 the scheme shows a diode, should i use one from pin 14 and then to output?

i'll be using TL071 for this project.
