I got my Volca Bass in the mail today!

It's like Christmas Shocked

It's really fun to play and has lots of real time performance control.

Volca beats is still on backorder D:

Got a RME Fireface UC audio interface on a grant co-written by my grad student Ken & myself. Mosc told me about these a year or two ago. You can change the mix to the outputs during performance via MIDI data. We are going to use it for dynamic spatial audio in our university's planetarium's Surround Sound system, among other things Cool

I know you don't hear me say this much but it seems pretty good. I haven't used it too much yet though.

One strangeness is the Oscillators start at around 35hz, so a C#.

They are meant to start at 31hz, I'm going to email them, maybe there is a trim somewhere.

I had a quick look, no midi in which us a bit of a pain.

The audio IO are DC coupled though, so that's good.

The program/run cycle is a pain:

Turn PB off and attach USB cable.
Turn PB on.
Build and deploy firmware.
Turn off PB
Disconnect USB cable.
Turn PB on.

That is going get annoying pretty quickly!

Looks pretty easy to add new modules, they are XML files with C code embedded in the XML. Will give it a try latter.

THIS arrived today. I've just checked that the MIDI ports, the iPad port (MIDI & Audio), PC-USB, and Ethernet(rtpMIDI) all work. Great piece of gear! I'll have to continue to use it to see how the latency and such is (especially over ethernet)..but so far, so great!

I was getting my doubt on about it as well. but it's here, the iPad audio is a great addition, and the best part is it works great with Lemur (especially Live Control2, which uses MIDI/Sysex, which many MIDI interfaces to iPad just can't handle for some reason, aside from the Alesis IODock debacle).

Can't recommend it enough. And since it uses rtpMIDI, I will be using it for a very long time to come. It's also built like a tank! Just wish the power supply wasn't a wall-wart. oh-well.

Good deals on this are easier to find these days, especially on eBay, so I could no longer resist, especially after selling the Moog Voyager:

Ooh nice Andy! I'll be interested to hear what you make of that one. It doesn't have many knobs, but it seems that clever interface layout might compensate?

I read that the P12 module has a button matrix interface, much like the G2, which should make it fairly easy to navigate, but we'll see what Andy reports.
