What's the vision for electro-music.com? |
|
|
The purpose of electro-music.com is to further the understanding and appreciation of electronic, electro-acoustic, and experimental music and art. The dream is to have an electro-music scene on the internet, where artists can interact with each other and their audiences; a kind of cooperative community where we all participate and benefit together. The site will have several parts, including:
A store where independent artists can sell CDs and other products on-line..
A forum where artists can communicate and develop a community with themselves and our audiences
A calendar where artists can post events
Low-cost web hosting for members
Web mail, POP, and IMAP email servers
Streaming audio members' music
Mailing lists, forums seem to be much better. I have both kinds of software, I'd like your opinions.
In the planning stages is a web casting radio station featuring the music of the members.
I've worked out the basic software for the store and the forum. The two are not integrated yet, but in a couple of weeks I hope to be "on the air". I invite everyone to check out the two parts of electro-music, which are under development. Please sign up and become a member of the forum. The URL is http://electro-music.com/forum. The prototype store (don't order anything) is at http://electro-music.com/catalog. I'm working on a front page that will tie everything together. My inspiration is a French site, http://percussions.org. Check it out even if you don't speak French.
My dream is that electro-music.com become a place where we artists meet, collaborate, sell our wares, develop and educate an audience; create a critical mass. Please let me know what your think. _________________ --Howard

Any ideas about where to announce this forum?
I assume we want to try to attract users.
Should we wait until we're sure all the kinks are out?
Probably it's a good idea to have a links page, to help attract reciprocal links. |

Well, I was thinking of buying an ad on Google. I've heard they are pretty productive. Also, every member can notify others on lists and such. When artists start getting stuff on for sale, hopefully they will direct people here.

Absolutely!

Yes, for sure. I'm giving myself one week. I want to make sure it is up by soundscapes concert on Feb 22nd. Bill suggested we give out flyers for people to sign up.

Yes, great idea. That page should be off of the front page which I start working on today, after I pay my bills...
Thanks for the input... _________________ --Howard
