Carlo;
Back in 1994, I produced the Ivor Darreg memorial CD "Detwelvulate!"
containing 73 minutes of Ivor's microtonal music in a vast range of
different tunings, including 19 equal, 22 equal, 21 equal, 31 equal, 9
equal, and many more, as well as just intonation in various limits.

Now I'm running a fundraiser to issue another Ivor Darreg CD,
together with DVDs I made of Ivor back in 1990, plus a documentary
about Ivor's life and work, data discs with mp3s of his
lecture-demonstration tapes dealing with music in various tunings, and
a 250-page book of his scores.

Times are tough economically, and everyone has problems right now.
It's easy to talk about microtonality -- but Ivor walked the walk as
well as talking the talk. Ivor was one of the true pioneers, and
unfortunately his tapes and scores are starting to age and eventually
they'll deteriorate. They won't last forever. The time to get involved
in preserving his musical legacy is _now_. The success of this effort
to make Ivor's music and writings and microtonal explanation tapes to
a wider range of people depends on _you_. If you can possibly make a
donation, your help would go a long toward making this project a
success.

One perk not mentioned in the indiegogo project page: I still have
a very limited number of shrink-wrapped CDs of the 1994 out-of-print
"Detwelvulate!" CD left, containing a selection from Ivor's tape
archives as well as his unreleased 3-CD set "Beyond the Xenharmonic
Frontier: Vols. 1, 2, and 3." This out-of-print CD currently sells
for upwards of $80 on amazon.com used, if you can find it. I'm giving
away a free shrink-wrapped disc of "Detwelvulate!" to anyone who
donates at the $75 level or above in addition to everything else.
There are about 60 of these fabulously rare discs left, and when
they're gone, they're _gone_.

Ivor was a seminal figure in contemporary American music and he
inspired a lot of people. Making his music and scores available
depends on the support of people like you. We all have a tendency to
think "Someone else will do it," but in this case, it really does depend
on Y*O*U. Ivor was amazingly far ahead of his time, musically speaking,
and most of what he said and did still reverberates today with ever-
increasing importance in the alternative tuning community -- so
aside from its historical value, these videos and CDs and scores offer
plenty of practical insight for real working microtonal musicians
and theorists right now, in 2014.

If you can't donate, no problem...but please send out emails about
this Ivor Darreg project to as many of your email contacts as you
think might be interested.

Thanks in advance for your support--

Brian McLaren

Consider supporting the legacy of Ivor Darreg, whose visionary efforts prefigured much of what we do today.
