I have always wanted to build electronic sound and music things, and finally I am taking the plunge. So far I built the Weird Sound Generator from a kit, and an XR2206 waveform generator.
My first step is to build a console that will support panels with various components for prototyping and testing. There was a metal-working part of it that is complete (made mounting strips and panel stock). Now there is a woodworking part of it (build the cabinet). Then there will be building the power supply, infrastructure, and the panels themselves. The goal is a very flexible unit where I can bring panels in and out as required, build new ones, and so on.
Once I am able to build and test electronics well, the next step is to build actual synth components. I have decided on Eurorack as a mechanical and electrical standard, and while I am building a cabinet for the development console, I am also building a 2x84p cabinet for mounting finished modules. I have already decided that this will run out of space too soon, so I am going to make two more of these, at least the wood parts.
Perhaps my biggest issue is focus, either that, or time. There are many things I find interesting and want to build. An SN-Voice. A Lunetta. A Doepfler DIY Synth. A sequencer based on Arduino and/or Raspberry Pi that can measure a CV and record it, then play back a sequence. Or maybe "just" the Klee Sequencer.
I like to write. You'll see me showing up as time goes on.
My username comes from the river that runs quite near my house.
Thanks for the forum!
