Mysterious tube VCO? Subject description: A thrift shop find. |
|
|
I believe this is a very old Tube VCO of some sort. No idea if it works(one of the tubes appears to be dieng(the smaller one of the two) as its silver coating is fading off the top. The other has a small area on the top where the silver coating is a little bit black, but it has not grown since i ahve gotten it. Anyone seen anything like this before?
The internalsVV
VVBanana jack plugs for IN SYNC and OUT
VVthe controlls for SLOPE, AMPLITUDE, SPEED, and SYNC

Definitely DIY. With a control labeled "speed", my guess would be an LFO or some kind of triggered slope generator.
You should be able to create a schematic of it - that will tell the story of what it is.
Why are the photos right/left reversed? _________________ FPGA, dsPIC and Fatman Synth Stuff

hehe lol I have no idea why the photos are reversed my phone camera did it, ill try and make a schematic of it sometime. I wonder if the gigantic old resistors in it use the same resistor code as carbon resistors? |

The resistor color code is indeed a solid standard.
The resistors are large because of the wattage rating. _________________ FPGA, dsPIC and Fatman Synth Stuff

It's old enough that I could have made it _________________ FPGA, dsPIC and Fatman Synth Stuff

is anything that old?
edit : while I was busy calling scott old, I forgot to reinforce his earlier comment of how it would be good to have a schematic
