5th friday Subject description: Blue Hell's regular show |
|
|
From now every fifth friday of the month I will be doing a regular live music show on radio.electro-music.com - Radio 1.
Apparently today was not a fifth friday, but nevertheless I had my first one, and I enjoyed doing it.
Let me sharpen the definition a bit, a regular show according to the, maybe buggy, 5th friday algorithm used by the show scheduling program on this site.
According to the algorithm episode 2 will be on Friday, October 30.
This was episode 1, Ketelmuziek, and attached is the recording of that. Thank you for listening :-)
Episode 1 was made with two instances of Wren juggling with 6 patches I had made in the last couple of weeks. I had a microphone connected and a guitar. The external sounds were my voice, me whistling and two coffee cups and a teaspoon. The patches used some samples, one I called 'blikje' and another one called 'lampshade'. I used a recording of a number station too.
Oh and it was a full moon too today, with a nice clear sky, so I could actually see the moon during the performance.
To the person complaining about 5th fridays being rarer than blue moons, I plan to do blue moons too, the next one being 2018-01-31, and that is a Wednesday, but please help remind whe nwe get close to that date

Loved it !
already looking forward to the next. In the meantime I can enjoy your stream ofcourse, but it's nice to
have a regular show. You make so much amazing music and most of it seems to get lost, except for the
occasional listener that stumbles onto your stream. hmm, maybe put a noodle radio link on the radiopage ? _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!"

Thank you PHOBoS for your kind words.
I don't have double resources
Heh, when I'd put on a noodle radio link I'd feel pressed to not experiment on that one anymore .. or not pre-experiment anyway, so I'd need two things, where I can really do just one, hardware wise, or at least with the current setup.
Still I love the idea of having a noodle radio here wher epeople could upload patches and an algorithm would select one and fade to the next, or something like that.
Edit: And, yes, the latter statement means other people could join as well then, erm should be able to. _________________ Jan

liking it much, actually that much as to listen to all three played at once, with moments of volume adjusting |

I don´t like it as music because there is nothing musical, but from a experimental point of view, its nice.
I just wonder why I get so much dislikes and hostile comments for my experimental music and if others do experimental stuff, they get positive response, even if its a 50 minute long piano like synthesizer patch thats imitating a string instrument trough some crazy algorithm, but I guess its the internet.
Maybe some jazz like abstract beat would fit and a little bit faster and playfull and some guitar (synthesized) playing some crazy creative melody. Maybe there should be not only a awareness on the sound, but also if there is any musical value. Or is it just about the pure sound? Not sure what path this artist wants to go, but maybe Music Maker could help to get some music done and this could get changed with something thats a bit more advanced.
I use everything because I think there should be absolutly no limits to what someone should be allowed to use because if it makes or changes sounds, beats, melodies, its good. Even if its just a toy keyboard for little children for 20 bugs.
Sound is just something awesome. What I don´t like is the rendering / converting sound that you get. It has this glitchy feel if you go no serious dither quality. I hear this over and over when people compose their stuff. Maybe its because I don´t like digital sound, its just sounding so black and clear, to defined somehow also. I rather do a mixing and filtering at 8 bits or so. High quality settings are bullshit if you ask me. What the fuck should high quality in sound actually mean? Clearness? What the fuck is clearness?

@Omega Wood
It being no music is fine with me, it is a sort of a need I have to make stuff like this. Thank you for listening :-)
I had started to listen to your longer video last week, at work, as I can not play youtubes at home .. anyway, I got called away for some thing and then got called away for another thing .. it sounded interesting to me, most often your work sounds interesting to me actually.
Anyway, I hope to find time soon to finish listening to it ... and you already posted another one as well .. lol. _________________ Jan

Next Friday will be a 5th Friday again but unfortunately it will not be possible for me to stream then.
I've made a recording instead of the Sandy Hands patch I was working on, and have attached it here.
Also I'll keep the patch running on my port [ http://electro-music.com/~janpunter/play.php?port=8078 ] so you can listen there as well.
For the recording the patch was auto morphed and I played it a bit with the cursor up/down keys and the mouse - on the stream it is fully automated (I actually prefer that one).
Both versions can go pretty damn loud and pretty damn soft as well.

From the previous advanced posting of today's 5th Friday, I was going to suggest perhaps you could use the well-designed scheduler to play it at the appointed time. However, since this is the final 5th Friday, I guess its just as well (maybe even more convenient) for people to download the final episode and listen on their own.
Thanks for doing the series. |
