So I have got this klee here. Someone built it for me. He's adequate manufacturer of eurorack modules and he is pretty shure there are no errors in the unit. But It does not work... properly
I made a list of errors known so far:
- step button does not work
- Gate bus 1 does absolutely nothing
- Gate bus 2 outputs the gates of bus 1 AND 2 (merged)
- Gate bus 3, strange behavior. Looks like there is some sort of interference with gate bus 2.
- Load bus 1 switch, nothing
- Random and random reference don't work
- Interval knob does not work but I haven't tuned it yet.
He says I have to tune it first but I have a feeling that the majority of the problems have absolutely nothing to do with that. Please correct me if I'm wrong . |

You're not wrong. And he should have tuned it for you himself, honestly that's the easiest thing to do.
Sounds like gate bus 1 is grounded for some reason, maybe shorted to ground. Gate bus 2 is just a function of gate bus 1 & 3 -- if neither one is active on a given step then 2 gets a clock. So if GB1 is hosed, it makes sense that it would appear to be the merge of 1 & 2.
Are you using the bring-up procedure from the docs? That usually helps take a methodical approach through the various things that should work, in an order where they build on each other.
Note that NV is *awesome* at remote troubleshooting these, but he is more regularly available on Muffwiggler.com than he appear to be here. There's a Euro Klee build thread, if you post there (either of the two forums) that's your best bet to get his attention.
Some of the rest of us are willing to help too . I don't have a good approach to why the step button wouldn't be working other than a problem with the switch, that's where I'd start.
Do you have a meter and/or a soldering iron? If not you're going to need someone to physically assist you, I suspect. |
