Subject description: Adding or removing modules/cables sends midi (?) and upsets external gear

Hi All, I'm back using the G2 Engine again after a few years away. Previously I used it on it's own but this time I'm using it with some external synths.
I'm having a problem specifically with my Vermona Perfourmer MK II, but it may not be the only unit with these issues.
Here's the problem: changes in the editor (running on OSX Yosemite) instantly result in stuck/lost midi notes and other garbled behaviour in the Vermona.
The G2 triggers the Vermona without any problems... until I make a change in the editor, such as adding or removing a module. At this point the Vermoma plays strange notes, gets stuck notes and even stops responding on some sections.
I'm guessing that the G2 editor is sending a lot of MIDI when changes are made in the editor and this is upsetting the rather basic midi interface in the Vermona (they don't like lots of midi all at once apparently).
I went into the synth settings and turned off send controllers but the problem is still there.
I checked the FAQ on this forum but didn't find anything related to this issue.
Have I missed something? What midi is getting sent when I add/remove a module (or even a cable)? Is anyone familiar with this issue? Are there any workarounds to stop this happening?

I’m pretty sure that the Editor does not generate MIDI, but editing a patch that is generating MIDI can cause problems. Adding or deleting modules and sometimes changing patch cables (and some other changes) will cause the G2 to reset so that the system can re-optimize for the best DSP usage. If, for example, your patch is generating MIDI note output and a NOTE ON is sent but the G2 resets before the corresponding NOTE OFF is sent, then that will cause a stuck note on the receiving synth.

I would recommend that all MIDI output be stopped or disabled when editing the patch to prevent this type of problem.

Thanks for that. I think you've hit the nail on the head; it's obviously the reset that is causing the issue.

I'm going to have to change my working methods - I'm used to editing my G2 patches constantly while they are running but it looks like I'm going to have to slow down a little when external gear is attached.

Try to use the G2 as the master clock if you can.

Try the local mode with the editor too. With the local mode you can add module and patch them without reset the system between each step. Usefull when you know what you edit/add to the patch.
