Hello.

I found a scheme of diy cassette player

But my goal is to make it as simple as possible - without motors. Just tape head, all for reading sound and power. If this scheme simple enough?

Maybe it's easy to just buy a cassette player and hack this?
Just a quick search and for 8.68€ I found THIS one.

Anyway I will buy a player to get a tape head. Thanks for advise. But player pcb have a lot of parts unusefull for my goal.

I found nice article about building stereo preamp for tape heads. Hope it will be usefull for diy delays, samplers and other projects.

Although I haven't tried it I expect that most microphone preamps would work. Maybe a phono preamp would
work too but I don know if the RIAA correction on that would sound ok.

when playing with loops or delay i guess a reel to reel machine would be much more nicer and easier to hack...

whish i could get my hands on one someday.. hopefully a 4-track...

making tape loops with reel to reel machines makes much more fun as it's length is "unlimited", you can cut and paste different snippets together...
speed control or adding extra tape heads would be much easier as there's more space... and with a 4-track you can play backwards too...

when i first saw and heard this i thought wow impressive and very cool looking...

would highly recommend checking out his other videos too... incorporating experimental madness to aesthetic beauty and incredible genius...
also some nice methods of ancient/DIY sound processing with reel to reel, records and water melon from one of my favourite bands Severed Heads:
