I have been on a (figure out how to do anything I can) with descrete transistors binge. Has been a good exercise.

I sat down to build an extra 555 AR, and went, I'm just going to do it simple instead.

I'm sure there are tones of schematics out there of this. I didn't look. That has been part of my, make me think descrete challenge to myself.

I liked how this worked enough that I wanted to poste it.

it is very comparable to any other AR I have built.

And yes it will act as an AD on my synth, however my trigger pulses are rather long on my DIY gear.. If I could play fast, that might be a problem.

With the component values you've chosen the maximum attack time is about 20 times longer than the maximum release time. This seems contrary to the usual practice. Did you want it this way for some particular reason?

I actually adjusted values to ranges I would use most. My use of the 10uf on the attack was longer than I would ever use, however it made the knob function seem more natural and less sensitive to changes at the short end of the attack.

I built one with a switch to add and remove capicitors for long and short envelopes.

Just posted it more as something fun for experimenting with.
