PM'd for 2 maybe 3. And can I just say I agree with Julian on the least expensive and most easily obtainable rotary switches Smile

Maybe we could do a group buy for the slider switches if possible. It seems a much better solution that the rotaries.

For builds in eurorack format Whoop-John over on Muff-Wiggler is getting ready to design a control panel pcb based on standard rotary controllers (if Ryk's main pcb run goes ahead) - so much less soldering would be involved - a great time saving and probably trouble shooting time saving!.

Of course it is personal preference but I think a well designed panel with rotaries will be really good. Also has the benefit of much lower cost. A rotaries panel is only 2 HP wider.

A group buy for the difficult to obtain sliders is fine as a one off project but the designers of pcbs and panels need to think of longer term supply.

Hi yes I saw that.

It could be a lot nicer and more compact if he used the mini rotary switches
I posted on previous page in the thread.

Thanks for all the PMs in the last few weeks.
I havent replied to all but I have kept a database of all interested people.

As it stands there is interest for 99 PCBs !!

Havent worked out the pricing yet sorry.

PS please note this project is not for beginners, the PCB is quite tightly
spaced, and the wiring to the controls is rather complicated.

Yes those mini-rotaries could make a great minimal panel set up. Actually I already used a couple of those for a different project.

*edit* Mini rotaries available on Aliexpress for 0.55p per piece plus postage (£3.42 postage for 16 pieces to UK). Need to make sure it is the 8 position type.

If Whoop John and Julian design for the mini-rotaries and a group buy was organised would be great as this would be a size and cost saving and they are widely available too.

If a cheap source for the classic rotaries can be found I would also be very happy with a control pcb and panel for those.

Count me in for 2x PCB sets... If switches etc. are available, count me in for those too... Thanks

Hello

A quick update . . .

I am in the middle of redesigning the PCBs so they
are easier to make and feature a more stable clock, so
it will be a bit longer before they are available.

Also I may be able to offer the kit with 8way slide switches
if enough people are interested.

These are great news. Since you're redesigning it please consider putting a reset input.

I'll be in for the switches, basically everything x2 (pcbs, switches, etc), especially if there is a eurorack panel coming available... I'm now thinking about upping my order from 2 to 3 (depending on price of course)...

Hello

Just thinking about the Reset input, could you let me know
exactly how you see this functioning ?

Is it just to reset the sequence, or would it be to reset and stop
the sequence ?

Great to hear that the M185 redesign is underway Very Happy

Personally I think a reset input should be just to reset.

In addition reset and stop would also be useful Razz

A reset input that simply jumps to step 1 when it receives a rising edge of a clock signal would be super helpful. That way you can sync the sequencer properly to e.g. a DAW without having to manually press reset every time you start the DAW again.

Hello

To add a reset only input is quite a simple mod to the existing design.
But if it needs to be synced to the a clock is a bit more complex.

Hi ryk,

I guess the simple mod is fine, basically it's instead of pressing the reset button manually you send a trigger signal.

I usually send two clock signals to a sequencer:
- one clock signal with the "tempo" (16th, 8th, whatever..)
- and one reset signal (on each whole note, or every 2nd or 4th or so..)

This works well with my MFOS sequencer (where I added a reset input).

Best regards
Lars

Hello

Here is a circuit you could add to the current design, to
give a Reset Input.

I havent tested it, but in theory should work.

It is just a simple circuit to clamp the reset input voltgage
[presumably 10v] down to 5v for the PIC logic level, which
is then passed to the NXT and PREV lines via diodes.

Give it a try and let me know if it's useful.

Woah! just stumbled onto this.. Amazing. I'd be in for a board or two if this is still happening.
