My Great Divide module for The Deathlehem Machine #13

Hey all. It's again, been a long time since I were last around. Back to Lunetta building as of 4 days ago though, for the 1st real time in over 3 years.

I don't know if anyone else has done this in any way before, so if I'm "re-inventing the wheel" as I often do in life, sorry about that.

This dual clock divider, is based around circuitry that came to me from another DIY'er. I'll find the schematic later and credit the proper originator.
Using CD4013s, this chap had shown how you could get odd # divisions from them, including 0.5 divisions!

So - I breadboarded a version that would give me the output of:
- the original clock signal and it divided by:
- 1.5
- 3
and from the 2nd divider
- 2.5
- 5

Using a higher speed clock to be able to hear things, I found that mixing only the original along with the 1.5 and 3 divisions, produced audio that had strongly human-nasal sounding harmonics to it!

Loving that, I added the 2.5 and 5 divisions as well, which gave more of the same - filled out even further, harmonically.

The way that I'm building the module is individual inputs for each divider and the outputs of all of the divisions. (Clock input 1 will default to both. An input to 2 will cancel input 1, coming to it.)

Looks like you got the circuits from here. (I actually made a thread about it) I am sometimes thinking of making a massive
master divider with a ton of different divisions but I usually get carried away with it in my mind and it just gets too complex.
I did make a smaller one with standard binary divisions but with inverted outputs, which makes a bit more sense when used
for clocking things.

Anyway, sounds nice when mixed together

Hi Richarius, if you can work with a high input frequency divided down, check out the 16 tone divider thread in this forum http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-63839.html.
These divider designs might be useful, because their division ratio can be changed on the fly from logic inputs.
