New diy power supply Subject description: uprated substation for the blue wardrobe |

Hi
I have wanted to upgrade my main power for the diy modular for a while now and here are some pics of the build and a brief description .
After chatting with Phobos here on EM i bought some left over power supply pcb's he had made for his very impressive euro power supply http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-65716-50.html
first job was to plan out what i needed & the size of enclosure needed ....
12V system (39 modules & orange bass synth 2.4 Amps + / 2 Amps -).
1x 120VA dual secondary toroidal.
2x bridge rectifier.
2x Phobos power pcb.
2x LT1083 7.5 Amp regulators.
15V system (6 modules 600mA + / 400mA -) .
1x 60VA dual secondary toroidal .
2x bridge rectifier.
2x Phobos power pcb.
2x LMxxx 1.5 Amp regulators.
300mm x 230mm Galvanised conduit box (fleabay).
i wanted the regulators to be bolted (with insul pad) direct to the sinks , so i used a 45mm sheet metal holesaw to drill out the enclosure , the sinks are also spaced off the enclosure surface to minimise heat transfer to case and allow a wee bit of air flow around their underside. the power pcb's are distanced from the regulators with pillars and the short leads off the board to regs is wired in 16 amp stranded cable.

next up was to fit the populated power pcb's then wire up , all the grounds (mains / lines to boxes / grounds at power pcbs) all connect at a central brass bolt to give a star ground system.
