hehe... sampled percussion sounds (pretty basic played out ones at that) and drum machine UI aside, i think we've seen that the G2 basically urinates on the Elektron MD in terms of flexibility and percussion synthesis in general. there's things that you can do on the G2 that could *never* be done on the MD (as we've seen from various users here). MD owners will fight the notion 'til the bitter end though. personally, i can't think of much reason to buy one (though i do feel it's probably one of the best drum machines ever produced). _________________ SoundCloud |

Obviously, I agree with you completly on the synthesis power of the G2 v the MD (although I still think the MD sounds great) but the UI can't be beaten and you can knock up great sounding patterns in a fraction of the time it would take you to patch something similar on the G2. But, you've just given me an idea to drive Mother's patch via the midi machines on the MD using param locks!!!
Thanks,

Thanks guys for the positive feedback!

It's very hard to capture the sound of an MD, and to be honest it wasn't my intention,
but using an LFO for the kick and a very short inverted positive env for the phase it
gives that extra "punch" that seems to be all over the MD.

I'm not gonna fight till the bitter end but simply will agree
But in terms of flexibility I think a G2 urinates on every other synth on the planet!
Still... I love my MD! Lovely UI, incredible "in your face" sound and some very powerfull features (16 LFO's, control- & midi machines, parameters locks, ...)
I'm glad i've both, they work really well togheter!

you've made me curious!
haven't used those midi-machines much, can you give some more info? |

Fantastic patch, MM - lots to learn here for me!
Took me a while to get my head around the trigger mechanism you have used throughout the the VA - looked at your "geiger" section for a while; I like the way you have created that feedback loop between the X-Fade and Pulse Dly (and also taken the X-Fade output as the sample trig for the S&H controlling the Pulse Dly length). I feel like Sean Connery taking a trip to Crab Key |

OK, somebody put me out of my misery and tell me how, why and what is going on with knobs 7 & 8 on page A1.
Looks like some sort of level meter but can't for the life of me work out how they are assigned or to what they are assigned. |

These are V.U. meters assigned to knobs, you can't tweak them,
it's just visual feedback... |

Which knobs are they assigned to? Can't see the modules in the patch and didn't know you could assign knobs to any sort of level meter... |

the 2 assignments come from the "2Out Module" > left and right VU meter,

oh yes you can, you can even assign the LED from an LFO to a knob,
nice for some visual feedback! |

OK - I'm totally confused. If I try to assign a knob (I'm using the parameter overview section in the editor) to the 2-Out module, the only thing it lets me assign it to is the output selector (1/2, 3/4 etc.), pad or on/off. How on earth do you get it to show the LED????? |

This assignment to VU's and leds does not seem to work anymore as it once did.
You can still assign a knob to a VU, but not anymore by dragging from the parameter overview to the VU. It can be done only by right clicking on the VU and selecting a knob to assign it to. But the knob won't move with the VU anymore as it used to in earlier OS releases (1.32 I'm on)
I had totaly forgotten about this possibility, but Clavia didn't apparently :-( _________________ Jan
