welcome Irwin.

There are some ways to go. Patches having version 2.1 or later can be opened in the 3.03 editor. Patches that are earlier must be converted though. When you have the 2.1 editor you can use that one to convert earlier patches.

Another possibility is to use a program that I wrote, it's usable on a PC only, and it can be found at http://www.iaf.nl/Users/BlueHell/html/software/software-patcon.htm

This tools converts pre-2.1 patches into 2.1 format, si they can then be opened in the 3.03 environment.

Keep in mind though that there are patches that got damaged during their travel over the internet. Such patches sometimes on loading give an error message suggesting they are of a wrong version. Such patches can often be repaired as well though. This can be done using a text editor, which means a program like notepad, not a program like word or wordpad. But I wrote a tool for this problem as well, it's the UN tool, as it un-does some web damage like removing some %20 stuff, empty lines etc. See http://www.iaf.nl/Users/BlueHell/html/software/software-un.htm .I'm not 100% sure if this latter one is bug free, it has had some problems in the past and I don't know anymore what got fixed and what got not. Just let me know when you have problems using it, and it would be wise to backup your patches !

Hi Jan,
the pat-con software is exact what i have been searching for... thanks a lot !
i forgot that i`m able to open the 2.1 patches with my editor.
i have lots of older patches (got my modular very early) which i like to convert now.
for a couple years i didn't`use the editor... i`ve had my 100 patches in the machine (got the keyboardversion wit 32 voices) and didn`t` plug it a a computer...

i also found the huge patch-download archive here (it`s a pity that they are not zipped... Smile

now i`m probably re-exploring my modular totally new...

sorry, for my bad english

and thanks again... Smile
