Try going into your browser's options, then look for Plug-ins, or plug-in types. In MS Windows, it's called "File Types". That's all basically MIME in action.

I think this trouble came from "Content-type: text/plain" instead of "Content-type: application/octet-stream" being used for the attached patches. Different platforms use different ways to handle the text based extensions, and the NM editor doesn't like that at all.

Thanks Jan Smile

Thats exactly what was going on. Now I re-see the words- I remember what it was.

There was a point where some patches I had to open in text edit (in OSX) then cut (because saving as txt format from text edit didn't work either), and then re-paste in text-edit running under classic. Of course this method meant that I also had to copy over the name of the patch- and it became too much of a chore- so in the end I just gave up.

So possibly part of the problem is the NM editor? That wouldn't surprise me! The dreaded 'port to Mac from PC'!!

Oh well- I bought a PC yesterday (to the darkside!). However I think Rosie is quite keen on getting her Modular up and running again Very Happy
