Nice tracks, Sudden. I like them.
Downtempo is a relative term. To me these are toe tappers. |

In Mosc's world, "downtempo" translates to minutes-per-beat, rather than beats-per-minute. Waaay avante garde.

Cyx, Mosc can tap time in slow motion:
o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ne
tw-tw-tw-tw-tw-tw-tw-tw-tw-tw-o
th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-ree
fo-fo-fo-fo-fo-fo-fo-fo-fo-fo-ur
etc. _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

hehe.. BPM speed.. fun topic.
I tend to think in 16ths and 32s etc. and some of my songs the tech kids think are in 160 bpm or 200 are in fact at half that speed.. but since I am used to ordinary notation I try to use sensible values for the events.. at least what seems sensible to me.
I wonder... at which BPM do whales their singing? mosc time? How does the notation look? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Whale Songs
Voice of the Whale was inspired by a recording of actual humpback whale songs. These songs have the following characteristics:
The sounds are in three ranges: high, low, and a more complex modulating sound.
There are seven basic types described variously as moans, cries, chirps, yups, snores, growls, whistles, etc.
The completed song not sung until the autumn before migration to the tropics.
Only males produce complete songs and these are associated with mating.
Each whale has a distinct song.
Songs from one whale will vary slightly from year to year.

I just noticed we are on Sudden Online Music thread
I apologize for being off topic but I am affected by hypergraphia, triggered by a postpartum mood disorder akin to 'Dostoevsky's disease', a form of temporal lobe epilepsy that generally has no physical symptoms but is characterized by emotional and intellectual euphoria.
I can't help it _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

A great "dramatic" ambient track! I love this one. It has a late 1960's feel to it, at least the stuff I was interested in during the late 1960s. The door bell at the beginning and end is brilliant. The piece takes us on a mind wander until the second "ding gong" snaps us back to conventional waking reality where we post a reply and move on to the next unread topic. |
