Hi there. This is my first post here and i hope its not out of place. It is concerning Ray Wilson's 8-step sequencer. I have a moog mg-1 with trigger and pitch inputs on the back. Now i know this can be used with my soon to be constructed SoundLab, but can i also use it with my moog? Cuz that would be cool. Also just wanted to say that ive been reading for quite some time and this is indeed a really cool forum. Can't wait to get my soundlab up and running!

yes, you can use it with the moog although some adjustments have to be done:

pitch control will work fine. ray's designs follow the common 1V/oct law, the standard implemented in moog and most of all vintage synths (opposite to Hz/V for korg synths, some yamaha and even the moog bass pedal).

but your moog needs a s-trigger (this means that a short circuit -connection to GND- is used to trigger the unit). you will have to convert the gate from the sequencer to such a s-trig. this can easily be done, i think. try this link:

happy soldering, good luck and enjoy your SL

cheers,

Cool, thanks a lot. I messed with the trigger in the past, and even tried controlling with a CV pedal. I think they have to be used at the same time, though yes? I will make one of these cords and try it out. Haven't built anything for awhile, so this sequencer might be a good warmup before i tackle my SL, but i can't wait
