What is TP-16 on the main board of the Roland JX-3P? Subject description: Or is there a random cable missing? |

I'm sure by now, I've spouted enough blabbery about the $50 JX-3P I recently found. Here's the status so far:
There is no sound from the keys. After powering it up, the led/switch for the first patch is light up and the chorus is on. You can hear the stereo shwooshing from the chorus, so there is some sound. The other big issue is that none of the push buttons work, except for the LFO button on the far left.
Although two of the sliders on the panel are bent, one is actually broken and needs to be replaced. It is the Sensitivity slider on the Edit section. I am assuming this is not the cause of the problem, but correct me if I am wrong.
Okay, now you're wondering what I meant by TP-16. I've been going over the schematics furiously, trying to find what I believe is labeled TP-16 on the main board. There are a lot of test points on this board, but what makes this one weird is:
1. I haven't yet found it anywhere on the schematics, and it is located right next to IC-45 on the PCB.
2. The component I'm looking at does not look like all the other test points (the small wire loop), may not even BE a test point, and looks suspiciously like an 8-pin interconnect.
WHAT THE HELL. Am I missing an entire cable? I'm leaning this way only because when I first opened the Siel DK-600, the DIP cable from the keyboard was not attached, and I immediately got sound.
This is all starting to creep me out because it is getting close to the problem I am having with the Siel DK-600, with the exception of the nonfunctioning keys. _________________ One Player Game | OPG on SoundCloud |

Turns out I have an authorized Roland dealer nearby. He said it was indeed an 8-pin test point, no missing cable. I guess this should actually make it easier since I now know there are no missing parts and a multimeter should help me determine what's going on with the key-scanning circuits. _________________ One Player Game | OPG on SoundCloud |
