This is for the admins
Is it possible to add a feature for each user to mark favorite threads/topics, so that they can be read at another time?
This feature should allow a different set of favorites for each forum |

You can already do that with your web browser! _________________ Cheers,

Howard had some experiments running onece into this direction, I liked those better than the browser's bookmark feature. But it's ben a while, and nothing seems to have happened with it. _________________ Jan

Not quite the same thing. You have to manage browser favorites yourself, and they reside on only one machine. They wouldn't be accessible from other locations. |

I'm very glad you mentioned this. I was working on this. I called it lists. The idea is a user could create lists of topics and call them whatever they want. For example - favorite G2 patches - best DIY topics - best online music - topics of interest - or whatever. These could be used by other members. One could search for common items, copy lists, combine them, comment on them, etc.
The idea is that this might make the forum more accessible. I got started on this, but the moderators didn't seem to be very impressed so I stoped working on it. Maybe I'll jump in an try to get it running again.
If anyone would be interested in alpha/beta testing this, please let me know by posting here. I may be able to get to this after the holidays. _________________ --Howard

Maybe, but I must have given a wrong impression then. I think it would be a very useful feature, and I certainly would go on shooting holes in it. Or try to, at least. _________________ Jan

??
Well, the idea is good. I think you should continue the work on this. This feature could be very useful for a lot of different stuff. I think we were once also discussing making the profile into some kind of homepage with similar features as seen at myspace/ the old mp3.com
I see we are now close to 96,5 K of posts Obviously we need some cool tools for curating the content and making it more accessible. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Sure - I would.
I often read EM at work, while waiiting for some test to finish.
But I cant read all the threads I'm interested in, nor can I listen to any patches or noodles. And with my memory, if I don't mark them, then they never get read again.
I'd be willing to bet that if you post a message for beta testers, you'd get a favorable response. Last edited by cappy2112 on Sun Dec 10, 2006 4:20 pm; edited 1 time in total |
