Custom NM1 Subject description: Pretty! |
|
|
Hi everyone, I just found this forum; looks like a great resource.
I was lucky enough to get hold of a NM1 last year; the guy who I got it from had it chromed as the previous owner had painted it blue and apparently it looked horrible.
Here's a couple of pics of it in my little studio:
I have to say I think it's the ultimate synth for a portable live setup - it looks absolutely fantastic under stage lighting and sounds the business too. The only drawback is that it needs regular polishing to look its best. The controls have been labelled with transparent Dymo stickers but as soon as I feel confident enough operating it with my eyes closed I'm going to remove them

That is simply bad ass. No doubt. Add a joystick to knobs 1&2, and it'd be the coolest NM1 ever. |

A joystick sounds like a great idea; however as a keyboard player I'd be more inclined to add a pitch-bend wheel first! Are joysticks for NM1 discussed anywhere here (or elsewhere?) |

fairly straight forward enough, but despite building a few effects pedals and some pAia kits I'm not really comfortable with soldering onto the circuit traces. I've tried it before rather unsuccessfully. |

You only have to solder to the three conneting pins of the pots.
But I have to tell you, Rob and Jan helped me a lot

ah, o.k., so the switch mentioned in those instructions is optional. been a few years since I've actually assembled anything . makes me think about possibly wiring the pots to a couple of stereo jacks on my NM1 and housing the joystick controller in an external project box and connecting it via TRS cables (so I can still put the board in its case when not in use). |
