I've tried downloading that .pdf a number of times now, but it always comes up with an error in Adobe which says, "the file was damaged and could not be repaired" _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

Yup, you are correct! Just grab the free Adobe reader 8.0 ...
This document will work with >= 6.0 .......

I must admit that I really dislike Acrobat too. I don't have it installed here- I much prefer Preview. _________________ ACHTUNG!

Just to let you all know, Tom and I are working on getting a better looking document up on this thread so hold tight, for now, the current PDF will have to suffice. I will look at things tonight ....
After that, we can get things rolling and have some of you build these Hi-Hat synthesizers.
As promised also, I will try to get some samples of the Clangora up from my hard drive ... I know I have a few things !!

Nup,
I've installed Reader 8, and I still can't get it. Always comes up with the same error. Whether I try to open the link or save as. It's supposed to be 3.8MB and the download which is saved is only 329KB. _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

Hold your horses Unkle K
I think we are going to have to display these pages differently. It's going to take a little while. Can you hang on (to the walls? ) for a bit longer??

No stress,
I just get curious when something doesn't do what you think it should. It's possibly a fault with my PC anyway. _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

I said "fault", a fault can be tracked down and fixed.

While you're wearing down your fingernails hanging onto the walls, Uncle, here are gifs to keep you salivating.
http://www.geocities.com/richardc64/clang/
block = block diagram
figure2 = triggers and envelopes
figure3 = clatter (noise)
figure4 = clank
figure5 = VCAs and output
I find figures 3 and 5 most interesting. "Clatter" is pitched noise generated by modulating a VCO with noise. Figure5 uses the NE570 as VCAs. New ideas to play with. Thank you v-un-v |

I know what part of the problem is here now
Everyone keeps uploading these images as scans, but no one is converting them to black and white, resizing or adjusting contrast and brightness etc etc. The result is a less than acceptable image.
Come on you chaps!! I know that you are only engineers, but engineers should be able to get it right!!!!
Thanks for the uploads Richard, but we really need something a little clearer. I think this is important. _________________ ACHTUNG!

I know. Just wanted to enable Uncle K to see something while he tries to correct his pdf difficulties.
I tried to clear up the images, but going b/w made them less readable. The current pdf is still usable, if one is sufficiently motivated;-) |

OK fellas, I just sent our Moderator, v-un-v, a set of very acceptable images via e-mail. I am sure he will re-touch as needed and then post them to this thread to get things rolling. Again, hang tight for the "new and improved" version of the Thomas henry "Clangora" Nuts and Volts article. It's worth the wait as it is a VERY well written article and a fun project to build to boot!!!
Thanks,
Bill |

Politics, Religion, Computers, analog vs. digital, ... deadly and highly opinionated subjects ... and, what the hell is a "warm" sound anyways?
Yea, I hear you the OS thing, the PARC guys were a great think tank BUT Apple just saw something that worked and built on it ... Seriously, I am really thinking about wanting to run stuff on a MacBook.
I don't want to get too OT ....
