Legendary Skinhead Reggae band Symarip are back together and playing their first ever Irish date in Dublins Voodoo Lounge.
SYMARIP were a ska and reggae band from the United Kingdom, originating in the late 1960s.
Consisting of members of West Indian descent, Symarip is widely marked as one of the original skinhead bands, being one of the first to target skinheads as an audience.
Their style of music became known as skinhead reggae, and their hits included "Skinhead Moonstomp", "Skinhead Girl" and "Skinhead Jamboree".

Support on the night is provided by Foxys Ruts. The Ruts were a reggae-influenced British punk rock band, notable for the 1979 Top 10 hit "Babylon's Burning", and an earlier single "In a Rut", which was never a hit but was much played and highly regarded by the noted disc jockey John Peel.

On Monday 16 July 2007 the band reformed for the first time in 27 years and played a special one off benefit gig for Paul Fox, following his diagnosis with cancer.
Sadly Paul Fox passed away late last year, but the band decided to stay together for the time being and continue to belt out all the old Ruts favourites!

Dublin ska/reggae band Present Arms are also on the bill. They play an energetic mix that brings to mind the sounds of 2Tone and perhaps UB40

A great night of skanking is guaranteed!

Sunday April 20th The Voodoo Lounge Arran Quay Dublin

Latest news on the Symarip gig on April 20th.

With only two weeks to go to this gig, disappointing news, unfortunately due to unforseen curcumstances Foxys Ruts will NOT be playing
in The Voodoo Lounge Dublin on Sunday April 20th.
The band send their deepest regrets and hope to make it to Ireland at some point in the future.

We would like to apologise to those who were looking forward to seeing them but it is beyond our control.

We now have Pure Madness drafted in to fill the gap! They are a great Madness tribute band and with them on the bill, a night of pure skankin’ mayhem is guaranteed!

Cheers
