RSS feeds upgraded Subject description: Please read if you use our rss feeds |
 |
|
As a free service to other web sites and individuals we offerRSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds of electro-music.com's forum. (Click here for info about RSS.)
We have just upgraded our RSS feeds. The new version is more efficient and secure.
We provide several URLs to get these feeds:
http://electro-music.com/forum/rss.php - provides up to 50 of the most recent topics from all of our publicly readable forums. The format of this feed is XML in the RSS standard. There are a couple of http arguments you can use to control the feeds:
c=20 would limit the feed to only 20 topics. The max is 50, default is 20.
f=14 would show only topics in forum 14 and all of its subforums.
For example to return the last 10 topics in the News category, use http://electro-music.com/forum/rss.php?c=10&f=14
rss.php returns the text of the topics. In case you don't want the entire text, we provide another program, rss2.php, for just the headers.
For simplicity, another program rss3.php provides a feed of just the News the electro-music.com forums. The program rss4.php provides just the Nord Modular forums (f=43). The c options work with these URLs as well.
RSS feeds aren't intended to provide an alternative way to read forum discussions. They are more useful for generating lists of the topics with recent activity. These feeds are not always up-to-date; they are updated every 2 minutes.
At the bottom of most forum pages there is the image which when clicked will provide the appropriate RSS feed for that forum and all of it's sub forums.
If you have any questions, or to request variations on these feeds, please post them as replies to this topic.
Sorry if the changes due to this upgrade cause you any inconvenience." _________________ --Howard

This is good news Howard and it works fine.
I only had to rename the feeds by manually, but this mutch more easy way to organise my feeds.

Opps, I found some errors in the links at the top and bottom of the forum pages. They weren't getting the forum id correctly. It's fixed now.
Nobody has complained but that's not necessarily an indicator that this wasn't bothersome. _________________ --Howard

Well, I'm not the most up to date person in the world, but I can't work out what this is for. When I click the rss/forums button, I get a whole load of code interspersed with forum material from somewhere, not sure where. Why would I want to use it? _________________ If you don't sing in a government choir,

Maybe your browser does not support RSS-feeds.
I use the feeds to get the latest news and forum messages from electro-music.com and other sites and forums.
You can select the the forum subjects you are interested in. It safes me a lot of browsing on the forum site.
Maybe I'm just an RSS-addict. _________________ www.jzwart.eu www.myspace.com/johanzwart |

You can also set up some email clients, like Thunderbird, to subscribe to RSS feeds. Some people prefer to read the forum that way. I don't use RSS feeds myself, that's why it has taken so long for me to get the bugs worked out. _________________ --Howard
