Productive and eclectic Ohio based sound artists Jeremy Bible & Jason Henry collaborate to fuse elements of musique concrete, acoustic, and electronic music. By means of conceptual, experimental, modern, and algorithmic recording and processing techniques the duo seek to expose a synergetic relationship between real world found sounds, acoustic instrumentation, and electronic sound design. The end result has been described as "paintings of sound", "the aural equivalent of abstract expressionist and minimalist painting", "music with depth and soft command", and "a consolidation of sound that creates an intimate experience transporting the listener to newly fabricated yet oddly nostalgic destinations". By merging the aesthetics of art and science through modern recording technology the duo examine the relationships between sound, ourselves, and the environment. Through research and experimentation into bioacoustics and the utilization of field recordings alongside traditional instruments and sound design a re-contextualization of everyday sound occurs. The duo's creative amalgamation of these elements have caught the attention of recording labels in Russia, Germany, and the United States with a growing number of albums slated for international release. Each of the duo's improvisational live performances bring forth conceptual approaches and new perspectives on their sound and are complemented by an equally significant visual element of large scale projections in a lights out performance environment described as "subtle patterns of breathing white light". |

Cleveland's annual Ingenuity Festival of Art and Technology is taking place this weekend in the Playhouse Square area in downtown Cleveland. The festival features a long list of innovative performances, installations, and exhibits throughout Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. High tech firms, NASA, major colleges and universities will dazzle and engage attendees with their latest scientific innovations. Performing and visual artists are working alongside other world-class artists from around the globe to create original performances.
Jeremy Bible & Jason Henry will be performing electro-acoustic/musique concrete/avant-garde sound art and video live Saturday Night at 11pm.
And here are some other interesting aspects to the event that should be of special interest to Experimedia friends and fans.
Crooked River, in 1st and 3rd Persons by Spurse with collaborators David Jensenius and Sean White, New York, N.Y.
This is a phonography installation setup at various stations throughout the festival. Tune in to the sonic path of the Cuyahoga River as it courses through the urban grid of Cleveland. Eavesdrop at live listening posts along the river to hear something unexpected. Engage with multiple histories of the river as you trace its flows through time.
Evolution Control Committee from San Francisco, California.
Mad geniuses or copyright criminals? For more than 20years, The Evolution Control Committee has been making musical copyright violations, playing their custom-built Thimbletron and polishing their own music genre ("Mashup") with a reputation for party-science performances that are not to be missed!
Toenjes-Marchant-Smith: Inventions Suite from Urbana, Illinois.
A magical theatrical experience inspired by the question ofthe artist's connection to technology and man's connection to machine! Inventions Suite is a 60-minute interactive work that explores (through a cyclical combination of video activated by music, music prompted by movement, and new improvised responses by both dancer and musician) the advent of computer-interface dance and the challenges and inspiration it sparks in these improvised dance/music performances.
And thats just to name a few. See the festival site for the full schedule. And download the program guide for some partial but detailed info on the festivals happenings.
If you have a chance to attend this please do. This region does not get many great events like this and would like to see this festival continue to happen and get better every year. _________________ experimedia.net - label and mailorder - TIMES ARE TOUGH SALE - 20% OFF THROUGH DEC 25TH
