What can I do with this random medical equipment cable? Subject description: momentary pushbutton with 1/4" phono jack cord |

I couldn't pass this up for $4 at a junk shop. I've got a bunch of old Tama Techstar drum synths and a Syndrum, but I don't think this cable is going to magically shoot 5 volts into the machine to trigger them. Has anyone experimented with cables like these? The emergency phones in elevators use 1/4" jacks, for example.

i'd put a meter across the plug and see what happens, it may require a custom socket, im guessing that the plug shorts when you press the button, kinda a switch extenstion lead you could easily make a drum trigger if this is the case. _________________ _Richard_ |

Yeah,
By the looks of it, it has to be low voltage, most likely switch extender. It's probably just line level lead. One conductor with a shield. Perfect piezo pickup lead to get a gate off a snare. _________________ If we thought and said hateful, discouraging, demeaning things to our friends,.....

I wonder if they had to break granny's fingers to get it out of her hand after she died,..
but yeah it's probably just a switch on a lead, which I probably would have bought too if I saw it .
what can you do with it ?,. whatever you come up with _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!"

how about a remote gate switch for an enveliope generator?
connect it to a flip flop / latch and use it for a start stop for a sequencer. |

hahahahahaa The weird thing is, I knew what it was for when I saw it inn the store. It's creepy how much medical equipment ends up in junk shops here in Tucson.
Thanks for the replies, everyone! I'll let you know what I come up with. _________________ One Player Game | OPG on SoundCloud |
