hey guys, I just aquired a nwe g2 engine and when I look in the little grate at the top on the left side I see a chip board that looks like this buit it says vs. 0.3 or ver 3 (im not at home now)

http://www.encoreelectronics.com/cont_dsp1.html

Should I be excited that I got a memory expansoin board for free with m g2 enegine or do they all have an "expansion board" in them.? (Hope that isnt as dumb as it sounds)...im only asking becuase perhaps "expansion board" is the default name they ive to all the modular chip boards (ie if you buy a new g2x perhpas its regular dsp board is called an "expansion board"). However, the case screws are certainly worn so it looks like it has been opened up. Im hopeful anyways, looking forward to getting into the regular g2 engine as opposed to the demo which i have been using. how can you measure the dsp power from the software? what sould it read if it is unexpanded vs expanded?

For my engines I can not see the DSP extension from outside .. it is around the middle somewhere ... I can only see the power supply ..

oh wait! I have two different enclosures .. the one with slits left and right could allow for seeing the extension trough the left one (looking from front) - but would have to get it out of the rack to properly see.

The two older engines I have do not have slits there .. Laughing

Anyway, you can easily test it .. make a patch that uses a bit less than 100% resources and see how many voices you can get for it .. 4 for unexpanded, 8 for expanded.
