Hello,

I've just finished building a MFOS 10 Step Sequencer and in my eagerness to test it I connected plus and minus the wrong way around Embarassed
The only thing that works on it is that you can step forward "manually" but nothing happens when you press the Start button .... the LED lights up correctly, anyone here who can give me a tip on where I can start to troubleshoot or what may have happened to it?

Cheers.

Did you release any magic smoke? Check the board for toasty looking components - and replace. Use your eyes - and nose to track them down.

A 'scope or meter will be helpful in tracking down issues - and identifying bad components. Lacking any real information ....U3 and U4 are part of the clock circuit - I might try swapping those out with new ones ...

You'll get this fixed - troubleshooting is just part of building.

Good Luck!

bruce

Thanks for your reply and advice!

Haha, no magic smoke!
But the nose did the trick Smile

I hooked it up today (with the correct polarity Very Happy ) and when I did perceive a smell of hot electronics, indeed U3 got very hot ..... can it be that it gets hot because it is defective due to incorrect wiring?
I have ordered a complete new set of IC's just in case ...

Now it works like clockwork! Smile
I replaced all the IC's, it did the trick.

Must try to measure those who sat in first to check out which of those who haunted me.

I enclose a picture of the building, almost an exact copy of which is on MFOS website, thought it was smooth as a first project to make one exactly like before I take the whole hog with the next project.

A picture below if anyone is interested:)

Cheers!
