This is a rare unit. If you have one, please post a message here when you pickup the manual. It would be interesting to know how many of these there are. As mentioned in this topic http://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?&t=12461 I ordered mine at the first MIDI conference in New York City, before they were in production. I think the price was about $250 but I could be wrong.

Here is the manual and a photo.

thanks for taking he time to help me out with this rare find mosc,
when you said it was hard to program i guess i will see what
you mean tonight. the serial number on mine is very low i'm guessing they
didn't make that many... now i can put it to good use on some
virtual synths i have!!

What is the serial number of yours?

It is really no hard to program the MIXI than any other musical instrument you program by downloading hexadecimal opcodes via SYSEX messages. Laughing

I used to use a JL Cooper MIDI merger/processor that used the "modified Octal" numbering system. That was a very unpleasant system to use, but it was very popular at one time. I still have that thing - another collectable. Laughing

mine is #00141 out of what.... 200? lol
The thing is built like a tank. as soon as i
get it situated in the studio ill take a
pic of it sitting in my rig. I'll set it up with
some kind of sysex dump program that
has buttons to dump multiple configurations.
this is going to be cool.... thanks to you mosc.
and google!

If you are going to use it, I'd suggest putting in a new battery.

I used to have one.

When I worked for Dr. T's and Caged Artist, I convinced them to give me one in exchange for writing an Atari ed/lib for the unit. About a week's worth of work as I remember; I didn't value my time properly back then.

Sold it off as part of my junk sale when I abandoned music in the early 90's.

I was never regular employee, but I wrote a bunch of manuals and programs on contract and royalty basis. Man, those were the days :')

Dr. T was a big part of electro-music 2006. He's doing video art these days.
