Well, there are quite a few sounds in the audio clip. Perhaps you are after the bass sound.

In may ways, it is a pretty generic sound -- a great sound, to be sure, however many synths can put out a punchy and colorful bass sound.

Part of the effect is achieved through the use of MIDI and quantization. This puts the notes exactly on the beat in a mechanical manner. There are tradeoffs between human flexibility and robotic precision -- however, for dance tracks or when you want a kind of "hypnotic robotic" feel quantization works wonders.

So, what kind of VST synth? Well, go after one that emulates a monophonic analog synth. I think that would be a good place to start.

welcome

Lots of sounds in there. Novation V-station could do the bass, maybe some of the leads and pads.
