Ok, I'm currently putting together a parts list for a Mini-Synth and have a question about switches. I need two types of SPDT switches: On-On and On-Off-On. On some parts websites, I'm seeing On-None-On switches. Are these equivalent to On-On's or are they 3 position switches? Any clarification would be greatly appreciated! I'm really anxious to get the order in so I can get started.

Thanks and good night!

Actually, it IS a 3 position switch. It is ON-CENTER OFF-ON. Yeah it is sort of On-On, but there is the center position that neither contact is active.

Hi,

On-Off-On is a 3 position switch. (as described in the quote above.)

On the other hand, On-None-On is a two position toggle. The switch has no center position. Its handle will either be up or down.

Here is a link which may be useful: http://www.nkkswitches.com/pdf/MtogglesBushing.pdf

Common toggle switch terminology is shown on page 3 at the lower left.

When there are parenthesis around the On, like this: (On), it means the switch is momentary in that position.
