I am setting up a new mac based studio. I am going to keep some old stuff and add some new stuff. The studio is meant to evolve later onto the G5 and OS X platform. At the moment I am thinking about buying one or two Mackie UAD-1 cards.. to use these in a mac, OS9.22 and Cubase VST 5.x. Some of my friends have the UAD-1. And it sounds ok . But.. you never know.. I wonder if any of you guys have any experience with it.

I know people that use it and have compared it with other PCI cards like the Powercore by T.C. Electronics. They tell me that it sounds great, lush reverbs, nice compression etc. I know a guy who sold his Powercore to buy a UAD-1! I think it could be an excellent choice.

I have heard good things about it as well - you might want to check the Mackie forums though and see what is being said. I would also check with Mackie and see if they have any issues with OS-X or the G5 (if they have even had a chance to check into it). I don't think there would be any problems...but you never can be 100% sure... I have thought about getting one myself...perhaps one day.
