I'll be buying a Nord Rack 3 soon.

What are the things I should be looking for when checking one out?

Is there a way of activating all the LEDs at once so I can see if there are any defective ones?

Are there any known problems with this synth?

Cheers,
David

welcome dvdborn

Take a look at the other mail about the NL3 in this forum to spot some difficulties. Anyway, be sure you got the Manual, otherwise it is download able at Clavia's site still, I hope.

The NL3 is an abandoned synth by Clavia, so maybe it can do something to the prise when buying it.

Be careful with the rotary dial, it can break inside when hit on the top.

The is no LED check in general.

Check the Wheel (also if it's still thighed in place, so no movements possible to the sides), check the PitchStick.

Hi Wout,

I've read all the posts and articles I could find on the net but couldn't find anything regarding buying tips.

Looking at this forum and other ones you look like a real Nord connaisseur.

Thanks for the info!

I'm guessing that if there isn't an all LED check, there also isn't a hidden service mode like most synths have?

Cheers,
David

Not as I know, but they would be there, of course, only Clavia didn't publish these... yet. Servicing means in Clavia terms replacing the board totally.

Hi Wout,

Replacing the entire board isn't an option anymore since Clavia can't do that anymore.

I emailed them last week asking about the future technical support for the Nord Lead/Rack 3 and this was their answer:

'it is no longer possible to manufacture complete main boards, so a main board replacement is not possible - if it should come to that (very rare though).'

Best,
David
