Next thing to do is to actually convert the frequency number from the FFT into a frequency. This will require some intelligent thought as to some constant multiplier such as 1::second / samp * num_samples or something like that. I'll leave that for the next person to work on it as I am eager to get back to my composing of binary sequences. This should be enough code to get you started, Acoustic Interloper, unless I am sadly mistaken about something and it doesn't really work under your test conditions. Either way, I'm happy to make further contributions as I have not gotten bored or distracted yet, haha. Enjoy.

Thanks so much for doing this! It gets me over a couple of hurdles. I've been meaning to try to get some time to get serious about learning ChucK -- there was an excellent 3.5 hour seminar at Electro-2007 in June, but I haven't had time since then -- so this is perfect. Second, I've worked on software tools for signal processing engineers, but I'm not a signal processing expert myself, so this definitely helps me in figuring out where to go with this.

I have to catch up on some consulting work this weekend, but near the front of my todo list is to do the frequency number translation, try it out on some other samples, try it out on a live mic, and then modulate some aspect of the banjo audio stream. I'll keep you posted. Have fun with the boolean composition!
