sfSoundRadio - "San Francisco New Music: Electronic/Improvised/Composed/Experimental" - just showed up recently in the iTunes radio tuner (oh, wait, I forgot, nothing good can ever come from iTunes Rolling Eyes ). First on the playlist was Stockhausen's Hymnen, which I had never heard. Quite intriguing, actually. The "Deutschland über Alles" cut-up in the middle got my attention something fierce.

You know, it's a shame he went kind of nuts as the 80s and 90s wore on, but he did make some awfully amazing stuff for awhile there.

James

Then they've followed that up, after a few other less-memorable tracks, with Spezza Rotto, which is frickin' insane. You gotta check these guys out. It reminds me of Zorn's thrash-jazz miniatures with doses of Fellini lunacy and decadence thrown in, but more absurd and less full of itself.

Damn. I'll probably have this thing on ALL DAY at work tomorrow. And my brain will be fried by the time I get home.

James

(PS I promise, I don't know these guys at all... no viral marketing here Razz )

The fun continues... Barry Truax's Dominion was just on. Exquisite. I'm deeply moved.

I'm listening to it right now, no need for i-Tunes at all, plays fine in AlsaPlayer.

Cool stuff.

Thanks for posting this. I live in the Bay area but wasn't aware of this music.
I'm having problems buffering the stream, but that could be due to Winamp or the company Intranet.

I'm having problems with their stream too. Seems to come and go.
