The Nord Lead forum was up to now dedicated to the Nord Lead Rack and the Nord Lead (1), the Nord Lead 2 and Nord Lead 2 Rack, the Nord Lead 2X and the Nord Lead 2X Rack, the Nord Lead 3 and the Nord Lead 3 Rack. What about the Nord Wave and eventually the Nord Wave Rack?

First Clavia introduced the Nord Wave as a substitute for the Nord Lead 3, only without the endless encoders. This is an argument to keep these synths in the same forum.

Secondly all these synths have in principal the same lay-out: Global and Slot controllers, Modulation section, Oscillator section, Amp and Filter section and Out. The last is in the Wave a little bigger bit concerning the FX section. Is the last an argument to give it a own forum? I think the lay-out is an argument to fit it in...

At the other hand there is the possibility to load wave forms into the Oscillators. An important difference. Only, will there be an exchange of samples between users? I think the archive will be much smaller then the one of the Nord Lead 1 to 2X. Exchanging SysEx is only useful if the Wave forms are also available to the community.

As a last point, I think the users of the synth will be in the same group of users as the Lead series. No fancy Patches like the Modulars and very less sharing of sounds... But it will be also another user community then to the Electro and the Stage!

My conclusion: programming a sound and the use of the synth will be like the Lead, so I think it's a good thing to keep these two together.

Wout

Well said Wout (although I hope people would want to share their sounds).

My thoughts are: Since it is new, and it may catch on really well, there would be a lot of traffic here just for the Wave, making it hard to find posts for the NL series (which would probably be way at the bottom).

The other argument is that since the Wave has wave tables and patches with that data are not compatible with anything previous, it's a totally separate entity.

Either way, it will be fun to see what people have to say (and create) with the Wave. Can't hardly wait to hear some new stuff!

I think Wout has the right idea. This is more or less as I was hoping to see it too. I think the G2 and Modular folks have a whole forum area, this works well here. Wout runs a tight ship here anyway.

Personally I think the wave should have it's own forum as it's newness is overshadowing the original intent of the NL forum. Exclamation IMHO
