Hide spam from last post column? |
|
|
The admins are really great at removing spam postings quickly - thanks! - but you still see the spam as the "last post" until somebody posts again.
Can this be suppressed, or reverted when deleting the post? I really don't care that some shit-fer-brains is interested in what's up britney's skirt and I don't want to see it on the forum front page.
Thanks.

Once it is deleted it will no longer show up, it shouldn't at least.
In this case it took a while to remove it, probably no moderator or admin was online for quite some time. Sorry for that. In my case the obligations related to my day time job lately cost me a bit more time than usual leaving less to clean up the filth here.
Maybe we could use some more members with the power to move posts like these out of the way. _________________ Jan

Maybe that changed recently, but I remember once clicking on the icon to go to the last post and the message popped up that the thread/post didn't exist. So I still think there is something funny going on.

Actually, the proper procedure should be to move the post to the hidden spam forum, and delete it from there. This would make sure that last post info is updated properly. That's a phpBB thing. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

I think that the last-post thing is some modification that mosc got, because stock phpBB doesn't actually have anything like that feature. But that said, especially with mods, when you do standard phpBB moderator functions like deleting a post, you have to account for the extra code and database bits.
I know that technique works. It actually moves the "last post" information to the hidden spam forum. Deleting the post leaves the rude stuff visible. Lucky for you there is a lot of closed-off rooms for the janitors to work in. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

Like I said, it makes me glad I don't know about that suff, while it also makes me even more appreciative of the folks on this forum willing to use their knowledge - and a lot of man-hours - to keep E-M very smoothly indeed. I just got a chance to test the forum's behavior, I zapped a porn post along with it's poster and then logged in under another name (as a user, not an admin or anything special) ... no sign anymore of that message, so apparently gone is gone for everyone. _________________ Jan
