a question to cgs digital noise users |
|
|
do you ever use the wh/pnk trigger outputs ?
I have a very limited frontpanel space and it seems like I
will have to choose between the trigger outputs or the leds,
and its always nice with some visible indication so.... ?
cheers

for me, the digital outs get used more than the noise outs.
You could take the middle path, have one led and one digital out. |

i use both filterd outs all the time... pnk out at slow clock settings to FM VCOs is particular fave. i wouldn't cut them. the 2 digital outs sound the same to me, so you might drop one; and i really don't think the LEDs provide much (i didn't implement them). also: don't omit the external CV and Clock ins... these are insanely useful.

Agreed, you don't need LEDs just jack up everything.
CV in, Clock in, pink, white, 2x digital, rate knob.
Fits in a single size Frac panel.
I love sending one channel of the Dual Drum to the Klangwerk, Using the White noise as a carrier (ext. freq), and the Digital noise as the CV for the carrier wave. Perfect Snare Drum. |

The two digital outputs do sound the same. If you are going to have just one, either is as good as the other. The purpose of having two is for when you want to use both at once - then the difference is of some value. _________________ http://www.cgs.synth.net/ |

BTW, smallest (non SMD) LEDs currently available seem to be 1.8 mm, although maybe not so easy to find. _________________ Jan

well, it was really more a question of how I would use the
number of pre drilled holes on the panel the best way
I have replaced the ordinary noise gen. in one of my
m-150 (roland 100m) modules with a cgs digital noise,
here´s how it finally turned out
edit: a short soundclip sweeping/modulating the int. clock

Indeed. It even fits in a single size Frac with 5mm LEDs.

Thanks for the MP3, I was wondering what this thing sounded like. Now I know – every videogame I played from 1985-89. |

My opinion on the CGS Digital Noise... It's a great Noise source, for sure! But, it's also a great random trigger out x3 when synced to an external clock! Try it, you'll like it!!!
