Is there an already existing Synth DIY group meeting and building Modules in the DFW area? If not, would anyone be interested in helping me form one?

I am a beginner at building who is working on his first Blacet kit, but it is going well and I would like to do a lot more. I have found one other person who is interested already.

We are actually getting this off the ground. An announcement about a first meet and greet/show and tell will hopefully be soon. We have 5 people involved in the initial stages. One has his own DIY system and some of the others have finished working projects already.

It is very exciting to see this idea begin to take shape.

Bring stuff to show. Some folks are very new to this and need to understand the very basics. Some have whole systems they have built. Others like me have modular synth set ups, but are new to the diy/building part.

We aren't planning to solder and build at this meeting. We just need to get to know each other and try to organize all of that. Agreeing on a format and a first group project may well be all we accomplish other than draining a few beers and making crazy noises.

I will drag out my DIY modular stuff, the monosynth I built, and some DIY electronic drum stuff. I'll try to keep everything easily opened in case anyone's interested in the guts and wants to see all my sloppy wiring.

I'm bringing an amp, mixer, folding table and speaker to ensure we have sound and someplace to set up a few things. Probably also bring a Doepfer portable with some things I'm sure people would like to mess with.

We had about 30 folks show up. It went very well.

Thanks to Lars and Rob for helping set things up.

oh yes, a really good time.
pauls did a demo of the new motm cloud generator, which is way cool.
a very wide range of toys appeared from a bent casio sk1 to an arp 2600. the room was full of sounds, spacey or fat or weird etc.
spontaneous collaborations abounded.
i don't think it could have gone much better...
